LiDAR Payload Insurance
What does it cover, how much does it cost, and steps to get insurance quotes.
Our team of insurance specialists developed multiple insurance programs to cover LiDAR equipment that is on the ground or in the air.
What does the LiDAR insurance cover?
Our insurance programs cover equipment on a “special peril” insurance policy which basically states that if it’s not specifically excluded on your insurance policy, then it is covered. Many insurance policies today are written on basic form policy, which to the contrary, only covers perils that are specifically included on the policy.
Here’s a list of common perils that are included on our insurance policies —
Damage
Theft
Flood
Earthquake
Water
Worldwide
How much does it cost?
Pricing ranges from 3% to 8% of the value of your equipment and is based on various underwriting data, such as the following:
Value of the equipment
Experience of the pilot
% of flights over water
Distance from structures
Number of flights per month
Previous insurance claims
If you fall out of the underwriting parameters, then the rate could go up to 10% to 15%. We only see these rates applied to operators that have claims history.
How are your programs different from the rest?
What LiDAR companies do you work with?
Our insurance partners insure all companies that manufacture, sell, or distribute LiDAR and other sensing technology. Here are some of our featured partners.
